I wrote my first fully-functional Google Gadget yesterday. This isn’t my first time experimenting with embeddable Google applications -I have made plenty of Google Custom Search Engines- but it is my first crack at using the Legacy Gadgets API.
The gadget is a simple search box that connects to Yahoo! Finance. Users can access information on individual companies, and they can see what the DOW is doing using a real-time stock chart. I built the thing using the Legacy Gadgets API on-screen editor. All I did was go to Yahoo Finance, view the source, and copy out the form section. I pasted that in the editor and then added some styling and a logo.
