Mike Blyleven and I spent the past week trying to come up with a cool name for our content management system/subject guide builder.  We were throwing name after name onto a whiteboard, but nothing stuck.  We were hung up on Greek God stuff because out library is awash in Gods and Titans (Xerxes, Aires, etc).

By the time Friday rolled around we were burnt out trying to come up with some meaningful, cool sounding name.  On a whim I called my three year old and asked him for some name suggestions.   

“So, bud, what should Mikey and I call our new Content Managemebt System?” 

“Sammy the Dog,” he replied without skipping a beat.   He didn’t care to know what a content management system was, he just knew that Sammy the Dog was the best name.

I told Mikey his suggestion, and he loved it immediately.  Thus, Sammy the Dog CMS was born.

I spent the weekend trying to come up with a cool acronym, but I came up dry.  However, if we alter the name a bit I can make something work.  SAMI, the System for Aggregating and Managing Information.  Logo changes on the way!
